Shipwreck, 2021 Shipwreck, 2021 30” x 40” oil on canvas A snapshot of a turbulent journey at sea. Initially, I intended on having the shipwreck happen on a sunny day with clear skies. I blocked in some basic shapes for the turbulent sea, but I didn't quite like how the sky looked in contrast. I started to darken the sky, block in the general shape of the boat, and add some detail to the waves of the sea. After finishing most of the detail in the sea, I returned to the sky to darken it even further. I wanted to bring a storm into the picture. More clouds began to appear and I added more detail to the ship. With the sea and the sky mostly finished, I strengthened the colors of the ship and added more shadows and detail. And after about 2 months, here's the finished work!
